Abstract

The present study was designed to investigate the changes in hematological and biochemical parameters as well as histopathological pictures induced hyperlipidemia and the protective role of hypolipidemic agents. In this study, 70 adult male Albino rats of 200-250 gm B.wt were used. Rats were divided into five groups; two groups were used for comparison (control, hyperlipidemic group). Other three groups were used as treatment groups as follow:a.group 1: control group: consisted of 14 male Albino rats with normal diet and distilled water.b.group 2: hyperlipidemic group: consisted of 14 male Albino rats with high fat diet (HFD): (animal fat 17gm + 3 gm corn oil + cholesterol 1%) induced orally from the first day of the experiment daily till the end of experiment.c.group 3: statins group: consisted of 14 male Albino rats with high fat diet (HFD) + treatment with atorvastatin 20 induced daily orally from the 5th week till the end of the experiment.d.group 4: ginger group: consisted of 14 male Albino rats with high fat diet (HFD) + treatment with ginger 400 mg/kg induced daily orally from the 5th week till the end of the experiment.e.group 5: fenugreek group: consisted of 14 male Albino rats with high fat diet (HFD) + treatment with fenugreek extract 200 mg/kg B.wt induced daily orally from the 5th week till the end of the experiment.
