Abstract

Regarding AGA our study concluded that PRP is safe and feasible and clinical response improved by increasing number of sessions (p value = 0.017).
Regarding AA better clinical response was observed in recent lesions evidenced by the correlation between duration of the disease and clinical response which was statistically significant inversed correlation (P value=0.039, r value = - 0.658).
To the best of our knowledge, we are the first group that discussed the issue of using PRP in tractional alopecia. Scalp biopsy is recommended before proceeding in PRP treatment in order to evaluate the hair follicles. So if hair follicles are viable, you can proceed in but if fibrosis predominates, results will be poor.
The use of PRP for applications in hair-loss is far from being minor. In the future, we hope to improve the protocol and show that PRP also has a preventive effect on hair disorders. This method will not replace hair transplantation, but may be useful to delay such treatment and provide better results. We hope that this article will encourage clinicians to use objective measurements for their evaluation, respecting the standard guidelines also further studies are needed with a longer follow-up and compared with other treatment modalities.
This method is simple and efficient, has low costs, and minimal morbidity.
