Abstract

A field experiment was carried out at the experimental Farm, Fac. of Agric., Minia Univ. during two successive seasons (2012/2013 and 2013/2014) to study the effect of compost (0, 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 ton/fed.) and some bio-stimulant treatments on growth and productivity of cumin. The data showed that using 7.5 ton/fed. compost significantly increased vegetative growth traits, yield and its component parameters, oil yield parameters and some chemical constituents (pigments and N, P and K %) comparing with other treatments.
The treatments of salicylic acid (200 ppm) followed by ascorbic acid (200 ppm) significantly increased growth parameters, fruits, essential oil productivity and chemical constituents comparing with control treatment, without significant differences between them in most cases. The treatments of active yeast (10 g/l.) and vit. E (100 ppm), in some cases gave the same significantly equal with Sal. (200 ppm).
It is recommended to supply cumin plant with compost (7.5 ton/fed.) and treating plants with salicylic acid at 200 ppm in order to obtain the maximum growth and productivity.
