Abstract The trend in modern health care is towards the performance of comprehensive nursing care. Mental health education would enable the nurses and other health professionals to understand and gain selfconfidence to provide comprehensive care to the mentally ill. The content of such educational programs would commonly include the provision of information about the nature and causation of mental illness. Providing nurses with a better understanding of serious mental illness and training in a broader range of interventions could help them create a more positive attitude towards their patients. |
