Abstract This study examines the importance of allowing more private sector participation in the design and delivery of technical and vocational education in Egypt. Through examining one of the programs (The Mubarak Kohl Initiative) that undertakes such approach. The Mubarak Kohl Initiative Dual system is a public private partnership program that involves the split of responsibilities between schools and employers’ representatives and where government acts more as an enabler or facilitator rather than provider of technical education. The findings of this study proved that the MKI-DS provided a foundation for more productive and satisfying careers and that technical and vocational education is best served by a diversity of public and private providers when the appropriate mix is in place. |
