Abstract

Studies on the pedological characteristics of the indurated or compacted soil have not received the attention they merit in Egypt. Some newly reclaimed soils in different regions in Egypt suffer severely from compaction or induration as a result of either using heavy machineries in their management or due to their genesis. Soil induration or compaction has a great economical bearing on the national economy through its adverse effect on crop production. Therefore the current study was conducted to study the pedological characteristics of indurated or compacted layers in some soil profiles of Wadi El Natron (West Delta), El-Salhya (East Delta) and Toshka (South Egypt).
