Abstract The aim of this study is to assess mothers’ knowledge and attitude regarding their enuretic children. The data were collected from all mothers attended the Pediatric Out Patient Clinic of Tanta University Hospital and Psychiatric Out Patient Clinic of Health Insurance Hospital in Tanta accompanying their enuretic children 6 to 12 years old. Tools for data collection were the first tool an interviewing questionnaire which included the following items Sociodemographic characteristics of mothers and their children. Second tool concerned with mothers’ knowledge regarding enuresis. Third tool for measurement of mothers attitude, fourth tool for assessing child self-concept and fifth tool concerned with measuring children weight and height using clinic instruments. The study found that out of 200 children of the studied population {81%) were primary enuresis and (19%) were secondary enuresis. Enuresis took place among girls than bays. Half of the mothers were illiterate and most of them had a poor knowledge regarding enuresis and its management and more than half of the mothers had a positive attitude toward enuresis. |
