Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of using literature circles strategy on developing some English and foreign language creative writing skills among secondary school students. The study sample consisted of 60 students of first year secondary at Al-Sadat secondary school in Meet Abu-Elkoom-Tala- Menoufiya Governorate. The instruments of the present study included a list of EFL creative writing skills required for secondary students and an EFL creative writing test. The EFL creative writing test was applied to the study sample prior to the application of the strategy as apre test. All students were pre tested then divided into two equivalent groups: control (30 students) and experimental (30 students). The strategy was applied to the experimental group for nine weeks. After implementing literature circles strategy in the study sample, the EFL creative writing test was post applied. Findings of the study revealed that EFL creative writing skills of the experimental group were developed as a result of using literature circles strategy. Therefore, it can be conducted that literature circles strategy is effective in developing creative writing skills of secondary school students.
