Abstract
The present study was carried out at the El-.Serw Domyate. Governorate Research Station and Animal Production Research Institute (APRI,) Agricultural Research Center,. Ministry of Agriculture, Dokki, Giza, Egypt. The main object of this study is to investigate .the efficiency of some biological treatments that can improve the feeding value of some selected field crop-residues such as nee straw to be used as feed for
•ruminants.
Therefore, the present investigation was undertaken to:
1- Evaluate the effect of biological •treatments of rice straw under different periods (30, 45 and 60 days) on chemical composition and rate of degradation of dry matter.
2- Estimate the digestibility coefficients, nutritive values, nitrogen balance and some rumina! and blood parameters of the best treatments.
3- Evaluate the effect of using the best treatments on growth performance
and the economical return of lambs.
