Globalization is now a fact that all the countries of the world must deal with positively to
benefit from it as best as possible. As the borders between countries are fading away day by day,
Some countries‟ identities are being weakened or lost and that includes Egypt, and in order to know
the reason for this identity loss the research began first by explaining how identity is formed and
proved its relationship with society as they both affect each other, accordingly, identity is in
constant state of formation, Then the research stated the main factors causing this formation.
Afterwards, the research studied Japan‟s identity as an example of a country that managed to
sustain its identity throught different historic events and architectural changes, the research
studied the way the Japanese identity is being affected due to these previously mentioned factors.
Then came the Egyptian identity, the research studied it as well, stating each change caused by the
factors affecting the identity formation. Then the research analysed some architectural examples to
recognize the factors that affect the Egyptian identity most. As a recommendation, the research
stated the factors that may be regarded to bring back the glory of the Egyptian architectural
identity.
