Abstract

The present work was aimed to evaluate the effect of cinnamon oil at
(5,2.5)%, avocado oil (5,2.5)% & mixture of all oils (as 5%) on
Hypercholesterolemic rats . For this purpose, the studies included about 35
rats about 150/200(g) weight. Rats were fed on normal (basal) diet . The
animals were divided to 7 equal group, one was kept as control - ve group ,
while the other 6 groups were fed cholesterol in 1.5% + fat 15% + bile salts
0.2% ) for 3 weeks to induce hypercholesterolemic rats .
Group (2): control positive (+ve), in which were hypercholesterolemic
rats fed on basal diet for 28 days.
Group (3): Hypercholesterolemic rats were fed on basal diet
containing ( 5% corn oil + 5% Cinnamon oil ) for 28 days.
Group (4): Hypercholesterolemic rats were fed on basal diet
containing ( 7.5% corn oil + 2.5 % Cinnamon oil ) for 28 days.
Group (5): Hypercholesterolemic rats were fed on basal diet
containing ( 5% corn oil + 5 % avocado oil) for 28 days.
Group (6): Hypercholesterolemic rats were fed on basal diet
containing ( 7.5 % corn oil + 2.5 % avocado oil )
Group (7): Hypercholesterolemic rats were fed on basal diet with (5
% corn oil + 2.5 % cinnamon oil + 2.5 % avocado oil ) mixture of all oils
for 28 days .
At the end of experimental period (28 days), animal were scarified .
Blood samples were collected to determine the following parameters :
serum glucose , Total cholesterol , triglycerides , lipoprotein fractions
(HDL-c, LDL-c and VLDL-c), atherogenic index (AI) level of serum liver
enzymes (ALT, AST, ALP) and ( uric acid , serum urea , creatinine) .
Liver, kidney, lungs, and spleen were kept in (10%) formalin solution for
histopathological examination.
