First: the problem of the study:
The Egyptian society is seeking seriously to catch up with developed countries, or at least reduce the gap between them, which was imposed on officials to revise the components of Egyptian human construction newly to contribute effectively to the achievement of comprehensive development and to overcome the problems that obstacle the community in his race with the advanced countries.
As considering that youth are a tool for the emerging of Nations and the construction of its development, progress and prosperity, so they are the capital of the nation and promised and materiel, and its present and future, they are the main axis and main pillar upon which communities as a productive force that bear the burden of economic and social progress, as they are the actual force and the revolution of any society, they are the most age categories vitality and activity and capacity of production.
where is the civic engagement of youth consider a social necessity imposed by the social responsibility to provide a comprehensive view to understanding the problems of society and its impact on social lifestyles, and work to face and limit their impact and to provide adequate standard of living for social welfare for all members of society.
One of The most important of these organizations that contribute to the activation of civic engagement among youth is the youth centers , it’s a part of the entity which is located on his shoulders the burden of youth making, and the development of his talents and the emerging of his energies and rationalization, in order to achieve national goals, where the youth centers working on training youth to take responsibility by assigning some of the tasks of leadership for them in various activities, and providing them with various skills with the investment of their time by programs to benefit their energy to the development of their personalities.
where is the method of community organization to benefit from the capabilities and potential of youth and stimulate their engagement in achieving the goals of environmental development, the benefits of the capabilities and potential of youth depending on their attitudes nature towards engagement in the development of their local community .
Through the previous talk the problem of the study can identify at the following address ”the contributions of youth centers in the development of civic engagement among youth”
second: The significance of the study:
1. The youth period is consider one of the most important stages of life that should be of concern from all nations and peoples, and all the officials in the community because they represent the strength of the community and the significance of its progress and advancement, The youth sector is the generation that is falling upon himself to take responsibility in the future, therefore able to make the process of societal change, in the year 2013, the estimated statistics of the device center to mobilize public and Statistics in 2015, representing young people about third of the population of Egypt, in the age 18-35 years estimated at 35.5%.
2. The importance of youth centers as a youth organizations in the community where these organizations must be concerned with youth welfare and development of its human resources, working out, as the number of youth centers in cities and villages are 3227 Youth Center in all of the Republic.
3. The civic engagement consider one of issues that have great importance on the political and social level, the concern with youth participation has become a field of study for many professions, each one search for subject this phenomenon according to its principles.
4. The growing role of community organization with the state attitude now is for attention to the issue of civic engagement and self-effort , where the method can with its techniques and technical skills to invest the youth engagement and assembled it in the legal channels to achieve effective contribution in the development process in Egypt.
5. The State interest in establishing a department for civic education aimed to improving the performance of employees at youth facilities, and development and refinement of technical skills for youth and leaders, and to deepen national concepts, and expand the participation of women and girls in various activities.
third: The objectives of the study:
This study seeks to achieve a main objective which is ”defining the role of youth centers in the development of civic engagement among youth.
emerging from this main objective a set of sub-goals, as follow:
1. Determine of the contributions of youth centers in developing the social engagement among youth.
2. Determine the contributions of the young centers in developing the political engagement among youth.
3. Determine the role of the community organizer in developing the civic engagement among youth.
4. Determine the obstacles that facing the youth centers in developing the civic engagement for youth.
5. determine proposals to activate the contributions of youth centers in developing the civic engagement among youth.
fourth: the hypotheses of the study:
The main hypothesis of the study as follow: ”there is a statistically significant relationship between the contributions of youth centers and civic engagement of youth”.
And emerge from it two of sub-hypotheses, as follow:
1. There is a statistically significant relationship between the contributions of youth centers and the development of social engagement among youth.
2. There is a statistically significant relationship between the contributions of youth centers and the development of political engagement among youth.
fifth: the concepts of the study:
the basic concepts of the study are determined as follows:
1. contributions.
2. Youth.
3. youth centers.
4. civic engagement.
sixth. The methodological procedures of the study:
1- the type of study: a descriptive study.
2-the used method: the study used the social survey by two both types the comprehensive and by sample
A - comprehensive social survey of board members and employees in youth centers.
B - Social survey by sample on youth engagement in youth centers.
3-the tools of the study:
A- data collection tools:
the Researcher in this study was based on the following tools:
* an assessment Form for civic engagement (prepared by the researcher) to identify the images of civic engagement of youth in various forms in youth centers
* a form of data Collect ”questionnaire” for board members and employees in youth centers.
* a form of data Collect ”questionnaire” for youth engaging in youth centers.
* an interview guide with officials and experts.
B-data analysis tools:
The researcher used a range of statistical methods that are compatible with the nature of the current study, as follow:
* Frequencies and percentages.
* The arithmetic mean and standard deviation.
* Total relative weights and weighted averages of the relative distance and grades.
* Calculate the relative strength of each variable of the form to determine the significance and the level of relative strength variables.
* the Law of determining the optimal sample size.
*Repetitive columns.
* Reliability coefficient alpha Krnbach.
*Self-validity equation.
* Pearson correlation coefficient.
4-the fields of the study: the study identified areas in the following:
A - placement field:
* Nasser youth center in the city of Assiut.
* Youth center of ”Burah” Village in Assiut center.
B - The human field:
* Comprehensive survey of board members and staff in selected youth centers (42) Single.
* The survey by sample of engaging youth in a number of youth centers (163)single after the use of terms and the law of optimal sample size.
C - The time field: - the time take for data collection and analysis and conclusions and prepare the final report from 5/10/2015 to 24/12/2015 AD.
seventh: Results of the study:
The current study reached to a group of findings related to the variables of the study which as follow:
1. Proven the validity of the main hypothesis ”there is a statistically significant relationship between the contributions of the youth centers (programs of activities -) and the development of civic participation among young people and thus proved the validity of sub-hypotheses of the study, Both from the point of view of youth and workers.
2. The results of the study found a set of barriers that facing the youth centers in the development of civic participation among youth.
3. The results of the study found a set of proposals to activate the contributions of the youth centers in the development of civic participation among youth.
