Abstract GERD is strongly associated with sleep disturbances. Resulting in work productivity impairment, poor health-related quality of life and daytime sleepiness; therefore, sleep disturbances in patients with GERD is one of the most important clinical problems. Our goal was to assess the Impact of Intensifying Acid Suppression on Sleep Disturbance Related to GERD. Our study included 90 patients, divided into three groups. Group 1 included 30 GERD patients on antacid or H2 blocker and shifted to omeprazole. Group 2 included 30 GERD patients on antacid or naïve patients and shifted to ranitidine. Group 3 lifestyle modification group included 30 GERD patients who not took PPI or H2 blocker were given advices without prescribing any drug. We excluded patients with Alarm symptoms, Dominant atypical GERD symptoms, currently receiving omeprazole, ECG abnormalities like arrhythmia or ischemic changes and Gall bladder abnormalities like thick wall or stone in ultrasound. And follow up after 4 weeks. We found a significant elevation in QOLRAD questionnaire score in the fourth week in group I compared to initial score and significant decrease in RDQ questionnaire score compared to initial score in relation to group II& III. |
