Abstract
Computers are already in widespread use in medical practice throughout the world and their utility and popularity is increasing day by day. This information technology is now poised to make a big impact on the way we deliver medical care. Ophthalmology as a specialty is no exception.
This research provides a practical, step by step approach in designing, developing, implementing and evaluating a computer supported clinical information system in strabismus ophthalmic practice. This strabismus information system is an ambulatory care information system that use electronic medical records to improve quality of patient care, enhance health care professionals clinical decisions and activate clinical research due to ease of managing data. The system development was achieved through situation analysis, manual system design and implementation, computerized system design, implementation and evaluation.
