In most cases, OME causes mild hearing impairment of short duration. When experienced in early life and when episodes of bilateral OME persist or >recur, the associated hearing loss maybe significant and have a negative impact on speech development and behavior(2,6-8) . Otitis Media with Effusion has several potential causes. The leading causes include viral respiratory tract infection, AOM and chronic eustachian tube dysfunction(117,118).
