Abstract

A field experiment was carried out at Green Land for Agriculture and Soil Reclamation (GLASR) Company’s field (30o36′45.78″N, 31o57′07.55″E), Salheya, Sharqia governorate. On the basic of fertilization management program applied by the company (control), Three-factor computer model was implemented to study the combination effect of compost, gypsum and phosphatic fertilizers on some soil chemical and physical properties and peanut growth characters. Peanut plants (Arachis hypogaea L.) type NC at rate of 50 kg fed-1 was planted under sprinkler irrigation (pivot system). The three amendments (compost, ordinary super phosphate and gypsum) were applied to the 0-15 cm depth before planting, while phosphoric acid was applied manually at two doses equally at 45 and 65 days after planting, Certified peanut seeds were planted in rows 35 cm apart in 3 x 1 m plots in four replicates. Results showed a decrease in soil pH, bulk density and drainable pores, while showed an increment in soil available content of N, P, Ca, K and Mg, on the other hand, data showed that available water, FC, WHP/DP ratio, peanut growth characters and yield attributes were improved significantly as a result of compost, gypsum and phosphatic fertilizers application comparing with the management and fertilization program used by GLASR Company. Results indicated that the most revenue treatment for peanut production in Salheya, Sharqia governorate treatment consists of 40, 50 and 10% from the maximum dose of compost, gypsum and phosphatic fertilizers, respectively which equal to 20m3 compost, 108.7kg gypsum, 10kg ordinary superphosphate and 1.83L phosphoric acid/fed. This treatment resulted in decreasing soil pH, drainable pores, real density and bulk density by 10% and increasing soil available K, Ca uptake, available water and total porosity to give 90% of the maximum value, soil available N, hay N uptake, hay total K and Mg content, hay Mg uptake, hay protein content, seed N content and uptake, seed K content and seed Mg content and uptake by 80% of the maximum. Full of certain it is advised to use this treatment combination in fertilization peanut under this soil conditions, instead of using calcium nitrate and phosphatic fertilizers at rates used by the investor management fertilization program.
