Abstract This study was planned to study the effect of radiation on the levels of lgA, IgG and IgM as well as Cu, Zn, Mg and Fe before and after dental care in both serum and saliva among workers in the y-radiation field. 50 male individuals were chosen their age ranged between 25-55 years and divided into three groups. Group (A), 30 individuals working in y-radiation. Group (B), I 0 individuals working at the (NCRRT) as employee and technicians. Group (C), I 0 individuals represented the normal controls. All individuals were subjected to oral and dental examination. The levels of serum and salivary immunoglobulins as well as trace elements were estimated before and after dental care. The data of this study demonstrated that all immunoglobulins in serum showed significant decrease while salivary level showed non significant change for workers in the field of radiation. After dental care, the mean serum and salivary lgA, IgG and serum Cu, Zn showed a marked decrease. However, serum and salivary IgM and Mg and salivary Cu, Zn showed non significant changes. On the other hand, serum and salivary Fe was marked increased. |
