Abstract Two experiments were carried out during two successive autumn seasons of 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 at the experimental protected cultivation site at Dokki, Central Laboratory for Agricultural Climate (CLAC), Agriculture research center, Ministry of agriculture, Giza, Egypt. The study was conducted to elucidate the effect of using chemical nutrient solution in comparison with using organic nutrient solution i.e., compost tea and vermiliquid at 2.5 EC. on vegetative growth, chemical composition, green pods yield and pods quality for snap bean plant cv. Alhamma grown in substrate culture of sand or perlite mixed with vermicompost at a rate of 10, 20 and 30 % by volume. Each experiment included twenty four treatments resulted from three nutrient solutions combined with eight substrate mixtures. A split plot design with four replicate was used where the three nutrient solution were arranged in the main plots while the substrate mixture were randomly randomly distributed in the sub plots. The obtained results can be summarized as follows. 5.1 Vegetative growth characteristics. a- Using chemical nutrient solution at 2.5 EC.reflected the highest values in all measured growth parameters i.e., plant length, number of leaves and branches, fresh and dry weight of plant as well as leaves area compared with organic nutrient solutions (compost tea and vermiliquid). In addition, no significant differences were noticed among the used organic nutrient solutions in all measured growth traits during the two seasons of study. |
