Abstract
Injuries to children arising from home accidents are increasingly seen as a community health problem. According to the National Safe Kids Campaign in the United States 40% of deaths and 50% of non-fatal unintentional injuries occur in and around the home Aim: to assess mothers’ preventive measures for children home accidents. Design: Descriptive analytical design. Setting: was carried in 6 MCH center represent 50% at area of Shibeen Elkanater- El-Qluibia governorate and mother home.Sample: purposive sample of 197 mothers who have Children at age 1 – 3 years. Tools: three tools were used for data collection 1st tool was interviewing questionnaire it was developed by the investigator it constricted 3 parts part 1 mothers socio-demographic part 2 mother’s knowledge’s, part 3 mother’s practices about home accidents and its prevention 2nd tool Assessment of mothers attitude toward home accidents and its prevention 3rd tool Observational checklist to assess the home factors predispose to children home accident. Results: However statistically significant relation between mothers total knowledge and there educational level, occupation and types of family, while there is non-significant relation between mothers total knowledge and their age, of the present study, it was concluded that near tow third of mothers who had who had satisfactory knowledge regarding total to knowledge toward home accident Conclusions: highly statistically significant relation between mothers total practice and their total knowledge score level. Recommendations: Developing of an educational program to teach parents how to prevent home accident and ensure home environment safety.
