Abstract

In our work, laparoscopy played a significant role in assessment and staging of most of neoplasms involved in our study and it had a variable benefits for different patients depending on the site of lesion and its nature.
For 38 patients included in group I, laparoscopic assessment provided us with findings different than that obtained by CT and other imaging studies in 11 patients (29%) and our prelaparoscopic staging for their lesions was changed and our plan of management was changed accordingly.
While in group II which included 12 cases, lap. Assessment revealed findings different than that of CT abdomen and other imaging studies in five cases (41.6%) which led to change in our therapeutic plane and accordingly aborted the previously planned laparotomy.
For cases of gastric carcmoma. The procedure was safe and completed with no morbidity related to laparoscopy in a reasonable time (20-25 minutes), it changed our planned surgical procedure of gastrectomy in 25% of cases involved in group I, and changed our therapeutic plan by 100% as regard the case involved in group II.
