Abstract

Frontalis suspension procedures have been accepted as the best techniques for treating blepharoptosis with poor LF 4mm or less.
All patients with blepharoptosis were evaluated in department of ophthalmology and 15 patients (23 eyelids) were selected as they had moderate to severe ptosis with poor levator function and were suitable for frontalis sling operation and we used ptose-up as the sling material.
Age of those patients ranged from 1 to 9 years, 33.3% were females and 66.7% were males. Eight patients were bilateral, (53.4%) and seven patients were unilateral, (46.6%).
Postoperative results were recorded as that the mean of MRD1 during the follow up period as follow:
- 1st week: 2.73mm
- 1st month: 2.7mm
- 3rd month: 2.2mm
- 6th month: 1.98mm
Stability of MRD1 was classified into 3 groups:
• Stable in 11 eyelids, (47.8%)
• Reduced by 0.5 mm in 7 eyelids, (30.4%)
• Reduced more than 0.5 mm in 5 eyelids, (21.7%)
Postoperative complications recorded were under-correction, (17.3%), recurrence, (13%), Infection, (4.3%), pyogenic granuloma, (4.3%) and extrusion of ptose-up material, (8.6%).
One patient from 15 was unsatisfied from the postoperative results, (6.6%) and 14 patients were satisfied, (93.3%).
