Abstract

Childhood obesity has increased over the past three decades among children and adolescents. Childhood obesity is associated with substantial co-morbidities and late sequelae, including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular complications, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is a common liver disease in children and adolescents. NAFLD is characterized by accumulation of fat in the liver (steatosis) that may be accompanied by inflammation)steatohepatitis), necrosis, fibrosis and cirrhosis resembling alcoholic hepatitis in the absence of alcoholic abuse . Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin and well known to be involved in the calcium homeostasis .Besides its skeletal effects, vitamin D deficiency is linked to certain diseases such as obesity, diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndrome.
