Abstract Computers play a vital role in industry and government due to the efficiency and productivity that can be increased using the computer systems. All systems consist of hardware and software. Many applications (e.g., life support systems, mission-critical systems, nuclear power plants etc.) require correct and reliable software and hardware for their perfect operations. So that, it is necessary to have precise, predictable, and repeatable control over the quality of software development process and product especially the critical software system. from research conducted there are a lot of models available to catch the product quality, the main models that are used periodically in business are “McCall, Boehm, Dromy, FURPS, ISO”. In this research a complete study is conducted to four models to show their powerful and weakness especially at the criticality of the software. Software is deemed safety-critical when its fails or malfunctions results could be damage to the environment, loss of vital equipment, injury or death. Within an application some parts may be more critical than others. More critical components need stronger justification and focus on its quality also it is realized that criticality of systems are located in the functional of system and maintainability of the system. It is important to find a way to analyse the criticality of any software product. So that the critical analysis procedures are analysed to decide the important and common used processes used in critical analysis. from the analysis Commercial off –the-shelf process is one of powerful procedure that used in critical analysis of software. |
