Abstract The present study was designed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of echocardiography alone in preoperative diagnosis of children with complex congenital cyanotic heart disease. The study population included 27 patients with congenital cyanotic heart disease. They were classified into 2 groups according to pulmonary blood flow. Group I included 20 patients with RVOT obstruction and decreased pulmonary blood flow and group II comprised 7 patients with increased pulmonary blood flow and pulmonary hypertension. Within the entire study group, we got 2/27 discrepancies (7%) among primary diagnostic entities thus yielding 96.1% sensitivity. Apart from 1ry diagnostic entities, there were 78 associated anomalies with 6 / 78 detected discrepancies (8%) with a sensitivity of 98.6%. |
