Abstract

Abstract
The success and failure of the computerized glow-curve deconvolution (CGCD) and the peak shape method (PSM) in analyzing the thermoluminescence (TL) glow-curve necessitated to review the basis of the TL expressions employed in these methods. The results indicated that both the general-order kinetics (GOK) and the mixed-order kinetics (MOK) expressions can, accurately, describe the glow-peaks generated by the one trap-one recombination (OTOR) level model in terms of the limits of the first- and the second-order kinetics, but deviate in the intermediate kinetics order. Furthermore, all the analytical peak model expressions failed to describe the glow-peaks in the cases in which the trapping probability coefficient becomes far greater than the recombination probability coefficient (i.e. A_n≫A_mor, alternatively, R=A_n/A_m ≫1) and the sample dose lies in the saturation range. However, the error in the calculated activation energy E reduces progressively as the trap occupancy n_o/N decreases to about 10% of the saturation
