Abstract

Fistulotomy is a simple method and can be used easily as a primary treatment for simple perianal fistula as it has shorter operating time with less post-operative pain and less time needed for wound healing than fistulectomy with the same incidence of complications in both operations. group (A) fistulectomy is done with complete coring of the fistula tract and removing it then closure of internal opening so we left the space of the removed tract to heal by granulation tissue so it takes longer time for granulation tissue formation and complete healing while in group (B) fistulotomy is done with only laying open the tract without removing more tissue so results in less raw unepithelialized area which takes less time to form granulation tissue and for complete healing, presence of wound infection in 1 patient in group (A) and in 2 patient in group (B) leads to delayed healing in these patients as it is an important factor in delaying wound healing, also good selection of cases with no other associated problems results on good healing time in both groups.
