Abstract

The present study was carried out on 1570 animals (390 cattle, 480 buffaloes, and 700 goats) of different ages and different sexes during the period of survey by examination of slaughtered animals.
Parasites samples collected from slaughtered ruminants at Kafr Dawoud abattoir, Minoof abattoir, Sers Ellian abattoir (Menoufia governorate) and Wadi Elnatron abattoir (Behera governorate).
Cattle were infected with trematodes and cestodes with infection rates of (10.51%) and (2.05%).
Five types of helminths were identified in cattle namely Fasciola gigantica (1.53%), Carmyerius gregarius (8.97%), Moniezia expansa (0.25%), Moniezia benedeni (0.51%), and Moniezia denticulate (1.28%).
Buffaloes were infected with trematodes and nematodes with infection rates of (6.45%), and (0.83%).
Four types of helminths were identified in buffaloes namely Fasciola hepatica (0.41%), Fasciola gigantica(0.83%), Carmyerius gregarious (5.20%), and Toxocara vitullorum (0.83 %).
Goats were infected with trematodes and cestodes with infection rates of (9.42%) and (9%).
Five types of helminths were identified in goats namely Paramphistomum cervi (1.42%), Carmyerius gregarious (8%),Moniezia expansa (4.28%), Moniezia benedeni (0.71%), and Avitellina centripunctata (4%).
Carmyerius gregarius with the highest infection rate recorded in cattle, buffaloes and goats(8.97%), (5.20%), and (8%), respectively.
In addition detailed morphological descriptions of the recovered helminths were included.
