Abstract

The main objective of this study is to develop a local machine,
which applies the theory of hammer mill. The items to achieve the aim of
this study are involved that: measuring some properties for residues as
length and diameter, preparing the new rotating drum components in
workshop for fixed on the drum like new sharp knives and saw disk mills,
evaluate the local shredding machine under different stages of experiment
to determine the best position and arrangement for new parts of drum,
evaluate the machine performance and determine best position which
obtained from experiments for determining the optimum productivity,
power requirements, energy consumption, process efficiency and cutting
length percentage at four stages of cutting rotate drum, three cutting drum
speed and three diameters of concave holes and cost estimation and
statically analysis.
The study of the shredding machine recommends the following
points: the cutting power requirement increased with increasing cutting
drum speed on contrast it decreased with increasing concave holes
diameter, the productivity of the machine increased with increasing
cutting drum speed and also with increasing concave holes diameter,
notch knives and excessive clearance lead to increase cutting energy this
due to the nature of the chemical composition, on contrast the effect of
stalks moisture content has very little effect on shear energy for sharp
blades, the obtained results showed that the use of disc mills significantly
decreased the cutting energy requirements, increased the cut length of less
than 2cm and solves the problem of clogging the machine, the obtained
results showed that, the disc mills are responsible for cutting operation
and the other flail knives supports the process to the cutting force, the
modified machine is suitable for shredding wide range of most famous wastes material whether they are both agricultural and agriculture and it
can be used throughout the year and the modified machine is suitable for
small farms by lowest cost and highest efficiency for agriculture wastes.
The best productivity, the lowest specific energy and best
percentage for cutting length softness were found at 2200 rpm cutting
drum speed, 1.5 cm concave holes diameter for the third step of drum
arrangement.
1) Maximum machine productivity was 91.3, 120.7, 145.5 and 150.2
kg/h for rice straw, corn stalks, dry and wet trees trim respectively,
at concave holes diameter 1.5 cm and 2200 rpm cutting drum speed
at the third step of development.
2) Minimum power requirement was 463.16, 526.32, 705.26 and
777.89 W for rice straw, corn stalks, dry and wet trees trim
respectively, at concave holes diameter 1.5 cm and 2200 rpm cutting
drum speed at the third step of development.
3) Maximum energy consumption was 6.34, 6.11, 5.28 and 5.75
W.h/kg for rice straw, corn stalks, dry and wet trees trim
respectively, at concave holes diameter 1.5 cm and 2200 rpm cutting
drum speed at the third step of development.
4) Best process efficiency was 97.4, 97.4, 96.9 and 97 % for rice straw,
corn stalks, dry and wet trees trim respectively, at concave holes
diameter 1.5 cm and 2200 rpm cutting drum speed at the third step
of development.
