Abstract Single-port access surgery offers a new technique that may be performed successfully in laparoscopic abdominal procedures while offering the patient a single ‘‘hidden’’ incision within the umbilicus. We recommend that surgeons interested in learning the SPA technique do so through an educational training model that serves as a bridge toward achieving proficiency in performing SPA surgery in human patients.Patients should be selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria.Surgeons should learn and practice more on single port technique in order to improve their skills and decrease the rate of intra and post operative complications.Safety should always come first and never be sacrificed to do the procedure ‘‘quickly’’Ultimately, the decision as to whether to perform SILC or traditional LC will be dependent on the preferences of individual surgeons and patients. |
