المستخلص

The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of using an e-learning program in developing the communicative competence of in-service EFL teachers & their attitudes towards e-learning. Sixty-six EFL teachers at the elementary stage in Minia administration were involved in the study as an experimental and a control groups. The study adopted the two group-quasi- experimental design. They were exposed to pre-testing to ensure equality using the means of collecting data used in the study: ”communicative listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary tests, and an attitude scale towards e-learning”. The experiment lasted for about four months. The experimental group was instructed and trained in an e-learning program for developing their communicative competence and enhancing their attitude towards e-learning, while the control group did not receive such training and they were exposed to conventional training sessions of teacher training. Tools of the study included: an e-learning program for training EFL teachers, communicative listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary tests, and an attitude scale towards e-learning ”. The study hypothesized that the experimental group would surpass the control group in the post performance on the communicative tests and on the attitude scale towards e-learning”. The analysis of the data using ”t- test” revealed that the experimental group significantly surpassed the control group in the post performance on the communicative listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary tests, and the attitude scale towards e-learning. Discussion of these findings, recommendations and suggestions for further research were presented.
