Abstract

This study was carried out to assess the child’s behavior throughout the course of restorative treatment in pediatric dental practice.
It was conducted on 300 children aged (4-6) years old, divided into two equal groups. Group I, received preventive treatment while in group II, they received restorative treatment.
Frankle et al , Sarnat et al behavior rating scales , pulse rate, blood pressure, and palm sweat test were recorded. Recall appointments were (8-14) days interval, the same operator collected data and provided all restorative services.
Results revealed that, most of the children exhibited a change in their behavior. A tendency for positive attitude when they were not subjected to painful condition, while the opposite was occurred, children showed negative attitude, when they were subjected to painful condition.
Results confirmed that, the younger the child and the more invasive the procedure, the more negative behavior was observed.
