Abstract

The present study deals with to evaluate the qualitative and quantitative groundwater present in Wadi El-Farigh area as well as to establish an environmental study through the link between the methods used in the study of groundwater and linking them with knowledge of remote sensing and geographic information systems, which is an attempt to clarify the relationship between the role of different environmental changes and their impact on the quality of the ground water resources, the depth to water in the Lower Miocene Moghra aquifer ranges from 80 m in the area near Elrayah El-Nassery to 160 m in the area of high topography in the west and north west, Salinity contents range from 200 ppm to 3100 ppm of the majority of samples this variety in Salinity contents is due to overexploitation and shortage of recharge. Through the use of the knowledge of remote sensing and geographic information systems in processing satellite images and study the changes at different time intervals as was done to monitor the changes in the region between 2005 and 2013 the results of image processing (satellite data and GIS data) Processing to studying the change detections and land use in the period from 2005 to 2013 and we have the following results The agriculture increasing area with 23.36 % and urbanization increasing with 2.93 % . The total Water consumption increasing value ≈ 26.29 % .Which will reflect negatively on the aquifer and on the development and future sustainability plans.
