Abstract
Biginelli reaction is still one of the most studied named reactions. Since more than one hundred yearsago . A variety of acidic and basic catalysts has been utilized for the synthesis of dihydropyrimidinesvia a multicomponent reactions of urea or thiourea, aromatic aldehydes and ethyl acetoacetate .To the best of our Knowledge , the bio-catalytic synthesis of Biginelli DHMPs is not reported in the literature.
Thus .Employing bio-catalysis in water as a green solvent ,at ambient temperature is advantages from economical ,environmental and handling point of view .
We report here in the first attempt to synthesis DHMPs 4 using arylaldehydes 1, ethylacetoacetate 2,urea or thiourea 3 , catalyzed by crushed garlic clove in water at ambient temperature.
