Abstract

This thesis is intended as a humble and earnest endeavour on my part to bridge the ”seemingly” present gaps between Language and Mathematics. It attempts to achieve a creditable reconciliation between the two domains by highlighting a number of versatile common underpinnings. Language and Mathematics, indeed, share a set of commonalities with respect to cognitive bases, reasoning mechanisms, and underlying terms and concepts. Furthermore, they both serve as adequate systematised symbolic eclecticisms for defining and representing not only thought, but also reality. Mathematics can deliver a means to formalising Language configuring its manifold syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic componential strata. Thus, it is pivotally significant to appropriate a formal grammar epitomising Language’s patterned syntactic structures as well as a scheme of mathematical logic so as to illustrate richly aesthetic facets of Language such as mood, metaphor, and fiction amongst others.
