Abstract

The first part of this investigation concerned with isolation and identification of fungi and bacteria from seeds, grains, animal feces and sheep rumen fluids. The second part of this study focused on screening for the ability of the fungal isolates to accumulate a considerable amounts of lipids from sugarcane molasses, so fungal lipids are used as a promising feedstock for biodiesel synthesis and further characterization of lipid accumulation with optimizing its production process. Subsequent to fungal lipid production, the spent media of fungal fermentation containing residual sugars and organic acids were reused for hydrogen production by Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824. Then the spent media after hydrogen production used for methane production in subsequently three stage fermentation process. The current results could be summarized in the following points:-
1- Seventy-five species and three varieties belonging to 28 genera were recovered during the present investigation.
