summary
This thesis studie the history of Alquds in The First Abbasy Era. (132-232 A.H/ 750-847 A.D)
The Thesis covers the era in which Alquds underwent the Abbasid ruling, taking into consideration that it was controlled by either a decision of the caliph or his representative, and extends from the fall of the Umayyad dynasty and the entrance of Abbasid army to Alquds, and their control over it at the end of the year (132A.H /750 A.D), until the year (232 A.H /847 A.D).
In this thesis, the researcher deals with the history of Elquds in all its sides: political, administrative, social, economic, scientific and architectural aspects.
The study is formed as an introduction, preface and four chapters and conclusion:
The introduction shows a brief overview of the subject and the reasons driving me for this study and the most important issues that the study seeks to solve, with an analysis of the most important sources that I relied upon.
The preface discusses, Alquds religious and political significance since ancient times and during early Islam, the political conditions, beginning with a quick overview on the most important political events in late Umayyad era and the role of Alquds and its people in it and its impact on disrupting and weakening the caliphate.
The first chapter discusses, The emergence of the Abbasid Caliphate and its most important political circumstances that helped it, The events associated with the Abbasid control over Alquds. And administrative regulations, through which the researcher tries to distinguish the borders of Alquds at that time, and geographic and administrative units set up. The researcher then follows the most important administrative systems and institutions undertaking the control of public life, showing their functions, roles and relationships of the caliphate and the population.
Chapter Two also includes a study in economic activity in the agricultural, industrial and commercial aspects, with an indication of areas of excellence, and the factors influencing it
