Abstract This study was conducted to investigate the effect of green coffee beans and rooibos tea consumption on obesity and diabetes mellitus diseases. Forty Albino rats weighting (190 ±30 g) were divided into 8 equal groups, one was kept as acontrol-Ve group,While the other 7 groups were injected by alloxan after induction of obesity . Obese diabetic rats were injected orally with green coffee or rooibos extracts (10-20%) by the dose 4mg.day-1. Serum liver enzymes (ALT, AST and ALP), kidney function parameters (creatinine and urea ),lipid profiles (TG, LDLc and HDLc), serum TBARS and serum glucose were examined. The obtained results revealed that green coffee beans and rooibos tea extracts, contain several classes of phytochemicals with other compounds, are able to prevent or inhibit obese and diabetes complications through liver serum enzymes-lowering activity, kidney function parameters concentration lowering, enhancing the serum lipid profile and decreasing rate on the formation of TBARS in serum. Therefore, we recommended like of that plant extracts (green coffee and rooibos tea) by a concentration 4 mg.day-1 %, amount to be included in our daily diets, drinks and food supplementation. |
