Abstract

Nehmetawy is a comparative later-comer in the canon of Egyptian deities, first appearing in Upper Egypt and the Hermopolite Nome in the 18th dynasty and only in Lower Egypt generally from the 22nd Dynasty. She is not attested to any substantial degree until the Greco-Roman period. Nehmetawy is found at El-Ashmunien, specifically called ”Lady of Khmunu”, or ”Nehmetawy in the midst of Unu”. She is also associated with other sites, especially ones connected with Djhwty, such as Hermopolis-Bah in the Ibis Nome (Fifteenth Lower Egyptian Nome). She was also known in the Oases in the late and Greco-Roman periods.
The methodology of the research:
The objective of this research is to collect and study the scenes of Nehmetawy in temples and other different objects from Ancient Egypt until the end of the Greco-Roman period in order to better understand her forms, titles, roles and her relation with other gods.
This could be considered as an attempt to make a study to the goddess Nehmetawy and an iconographical study in a numbers of representations of Nehmetawy in the constant and portable monuments from Ancient Egypt until the Greco-Roman period; however the 127 documents may not cover all representations of the goddess Nehmetawy in the constant monuments from Ancient Egypt until the Greco-Roman period, But the selected documents in this research could give a good idea about her iconography, her attributes and her titles.
In order to collect and select the documents, the different volumes of the PM were checked then the selected bibliography was examined. This research
