Abstract
•Alvarado Scoring System can improve diagnostic accuracy of acute appendicitis and reduce negative appendicectomy and complication rates.
•Alvarado Scoring System more than or equal 7 indicates appendicectomy without the need for further imaging .
•This study showed that in diagnosis of acute appendicitis, Alvarado Scoring System has a high diagnostic value.
•Alvarado Scoring System is a non-invasive, safe diagnostic procedure which is simple, fast, reliable and repeatable.
