Abstract Ndoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is a common procedure which requires a meticulous assessment of patient and a detailed radiological description of the anatomy and its anatomical variations in nose and paranasal sinuses (PNS). Computed tomography (CT) is crucial for the modern management of chronic rhino sinusitis, owing to its ability to delineate mucosal disease, demonstrate primary obstructive pathology, and image distal structures such as the posterior ethmoid sinus, which cannot be viewed with direct endoscopy. So, the present study aimed to highlight the role of multidetector CT in the evaluation of anatomic variants of the paranasal sinuses and the nasal cavity. To accomplish this target, the CT scan of 40 patients with miscellaneous sinus complaints were studied. They included 16 males (40.0 %) and 24 females (60.0 %) with a mean age of 26 years. They were subjected to multidetector CT evaluation in different planes for evaluation of the nasal cavity and the paranasal sinuses. |
