Abstract Neutrophil gelatinase – associated lipocalin (NGAL) , a small 25 kDa protein released from damaged renal tubular cells , considered one of the most promising biomarkers in the field of acute and chronic kidney diseases. This cross sectional study was carried out at single HD session for CRF to evaluate circulating NGAL levels in chronic HD patients and investigate its possible relationship with different laboratory parameters and to highlight the effect of a single HD session on serum NGAL levels among children resaving haemodialysis sessions in Nephrology unit, Pediatric Department, Benha University Hospitals, and Zagazig University Hospitals. The study included 30 patients with CRF on HD (groupП), who receive 3 sessions of HD weekly. The patients’ age ranged from 7 to 18 years with a mean of 13.2±3.5 years, 12 were males and 18 were females, and 20 children with chronic kidney affection not in failure or HD were (group П) their age ranged from 8to 17 years with a mean of 11.7±2.7,60%were males (12 patients) and 40% were females (8 patients). |
