Abstract

-Diabetes and its complications are a serious threat to the survivals .The prevalence of diabetes in Egypt is high, and it Suggests that diabetes is a major, emerging clinical and public health problem in Egypt of an increasing number of people.
-Evidence shows that the onset of diabetes can be prevented or delayed greatly in individuals at high risk Clinical.
-Research has shown a reduction in risk of developing diabetes of over 50% by following relatively modest changes in lifestyle that included adopting a healthy diet, increasing physical activities, and maintaining a healthy body weight.
-Previous studies have founded appropriate lifestyle intervention and/or drug treatment, are effective in delaying or preventing both diabetes and its complications and Several scoring systems were suggested to identify population at risk for diabetes among those, finnish risk score (findrink) was found to be easy and applicable in our community.

- Aim of the work:
Application of risk scoring system in certain groups to identify population at risk as a preliminary step for application of diabetes prevention program.
Patient &methods:-
The study was conducted on 258 persons in Sohag University Hospital . The subjects were questioned regarding age, diet, physical activity, medical history of anti-diabetic medication or antihypertensive history of blood sugar elevation before, and family history of diabetes. The subjects were examined for body mass index and waist circumference.
- Results:
The present study was conducted on( 258) non diabetic employees at sohag university hospital and according to finsh risk score (88) persons from total number are at low risk and ( 101) are at mild risk and (48) at moderate risk and (20) at high risk and (1) at very high risk.
Conclusion:-
Diabetes is preventable disease and we can decrease diabetes risk by simple lifestyle modifications that include adopting a healthy diet, increasing physical activity, and maintaining a healthy body weight.
