Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder causes an increase in blood glucose in case of insulin resistance by cells or low insulin secretion.
There are about 150million people suffering from diabetes around the world and this number may be increase to 300 million by 2025.
Retinol Binding Protein 4 is a member of lipocalin family which synthesized in liver and used for transporting vitamin A in the blood. Some recent studies found that there is a relation between RBP4 and diabetes mellitus. These studies show that an increase of RBP4 in blood in patient with type2 diabetes and co-related to insulin resistance.
Also, some studies showed that there is a significantly increase in inflammatory cytokines especially IL-6 and TNF-α in blood and there is a relationship between insulin resistance and the increased levels of these cytokines.
Recent studies show that there are some drugs which decrease RBP4 in blood which in turn help in treatment of diabetes. These drugs are Metformin and Fenretinide.
This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of these drugs on RBP4 which in turn affects the treatment of diabetes to achieve that on immunochemical and molecular biological level.
So that we use 5 groups of rats which divided as follow:
