Abstract

Diagnosis of death, post-morten extrnal examination and issuing death certifcate is one of basic skills that are practiced by the physicians general practitioner and health inspector in the health offices in all governorates of Egypt. Death certifcate is a public health surveillance tool and is very important because morbidity and mortality statistics often come from death certificaion data . the accuracy of cause of death statistics depend on completeness and the correctness of the death certificate and mostly the underlying cause of death which is primarily completed by medical physicians even where medical certification of the cause of death is common practice it does not necessarily mean that the correct cause of death is written on the death certificate in the correct way lack of awareness of the importance of cause of death data and the human error during issuing MCCD considered main sources of inaccuracy of death certificates .
