Abstract Our study was carried on 40 patient diagnosed to have symptomatic hemorrhoids. They were subjected to the following: History taking, general and anorectal examination and full investigation. The patients were divided into two equal groups: · Group A: 20 patients were treated by rubber bands ligation. · Group B: 20 patients were treated by conventional Milligan- Morgan hemorrhoidectomy. All patients were subjected to preoperative preparation. Rubber bands ligation had done under spinal or local anesthesia (pudendal nerve block) while Milligan- Morgan hemorrhoidectomy done under spinal anesthesia. All patients were subjected to postoperative follow-up up to 6 months. The two methods compared as regard time of operation, intraoperative bleeding, urine retentions, postoperative pain , time needed for healing, postoperative incontinence, stenosis. The Rubber bands ligation was associated with short operative time (5- 12) minutes, mild intraoperative and postoperative bleeding, less incidence of urine retentions, mild postoperative pain, short time of healing (14-21) days, less postoperative stenosis and less recurrence. |
