Abstract The basement rocks of the saih hatat area in NE oman contain high P/T metamorphic rocks that structurally underlie the semail ophiolite. These rocks are divied into high grade glaucophane-epidote- garnet- clinopyroxene- bearing schists that occur near As Sifah and lower grade crosstie epidote schists, chlorite schists, metabasites and lawsonite schists in central and western saih hatat. Peak metamorphic temperatures of the As sifah blueschists rangr from 450to 600c based on the application of garnet clinopyroxene and garnet phengite geothermometers. the corresponding minimum pressures are estimated at 9.5-13Kb based on the jadeite content of pyroxene coexisting with quartz and albite. |
