المستخلص Educational services represent one of the most important services in the city especially in light of the growing rate of school-age children. Hence, the need to duplicate space availability for these services arises. Existing Egyptian cities have long been suffering from spontaneous, and unplanned, spread of schools sites within residential districts. This has often occurred in light of absence of a firm planning framework. Lack of equity in the distribution of different types of educational services in almost every Egyptian city has become both recognizable as well as discernible. Dependence on technological means - as well as the spread of spontaneous unplanned services - have both resulted in the ongoing decline of the role of human factor in city. It has become a common phenomenon to notice the accumulation of services in certain areas of urban structure, while other areas are left deprived of them. The spatial distribution of educational services is one of the most significant service-related issues that affect urban growth. Primary schools have long been suffering from insufficient space. As a consequence, traffic problems are common during the daily trips to and from schools. This research focuses on the analysis of present situation of primary schools in Assiut City, where a large number of children move to and from schools with their families. As such, this thesis seeks the definition of an assessment methodology proposal for the status of elementary schools distribution. The thesis also aims at setting out specific policies and frameworks that could help raise efficient performance, and better distribution of educational services in the Egyptian city. |
