Abstract

The present study concluded that in the behavioral group, there were statistically significant post-intervention improvements at all domains of King’s Health Questionnaire for the QOL. Likewise, women in the Tolterodine group showed statistically significant post-intervention improvements. Also, in each group there was a statistically significant post-intervention improvement in all symptoms of over-active bladder among women in the two study groups.
However the present study concluded that the mean pre-post intervention improvements showed no statistically significant differences between the behavioral and Toterodine study groups in all Over active bladder symptoms and at all domains of King’s Health Questionnaire for the quality of life.
Almost all domains of the King’s Health Questionnaire for the quality of life were statistically significant positively correlated with each other. Pre-post improvement in the frequency of daytime micturation was statistically significant positively correlated with improvements in general health, incontinence impact, social limitations, emotions, sleep/energy, nocturia and urge incontinence domains of the King’s Health Questionnaire for the quality of life. Likewise, pre-post improvement in the urge micturation was significantly correlated positively with improvements in general health, incontinence impact, emotions and sleep/energy incontinence domains of the King’s Health Questionnaire for the quality of life.
The family physician is in an ideal position to diagnose and manage UI in his or her patients, as well as to coordinate the care of subspecialists if necessary.
