Abstract This study aims to compare the results in respect of safety and efficacy of submucosal diathermy with partial inferior turbinectomy in terms of post –operative improvement of nasal obstruction& pain & crustations and healing. The current study reveals that SMD is better than PIT as regard of postoperative pain and crustations after 2 weeks and after 1 month. Out of fifty patients, 34 were females and 16 males. They were in the age range of 16 – 43 years. At the end of second week ,No patients with SMD group had severe pain in comparison to 8 patients ( 32 % ) with PIT who recorded severe pain .(P= 0.01).while as regard to post-operative crustations ,11 patients (44%) of SMD group had mild crustations as compared to 20 patients ( 80 % ) of PIT group after two weeks (P= 0.02) At the end of one month, 13 patients (52%) of SMD group had mild crustations as compared to 22 patients (88 %) of PIT group (P= 0.01). |
