Abstract

In vitro fertilization is a human assisted reproduction technique, which is becoming a more common treatment pathway for infertile couples, in which oocytes are retrieved from a woman’s ovaries and then fertilized by sperm outside the patient’s body. The present study aims to assess the problems experienced by women undergoing IVF treatment, and to find out the impact of counseling program for women on the success rate of in vitro fertilization treatment. Two different designs were used in carry out the present study: namely descriptive trial and an intervention design. The samples used were a descriptive sample of 200 women undergoing IVF treatment. The second sample was included (60) women undergoing to IVF for first time and divided into 30 women counseling program and 30 women receive ordinary care. The results the study women are more likely to be secondary education, housewives, and of rural residence. They have a primary infertility, and male factors infertility. Knowledge about IVF procedure as induction, retrieval, ET and methods of pregnancy confirmations were higher among study group than the control group
study group were more susceptible to had height success rate due to satisfactory information about each step of the treatments which help in alleviated psychological and marital problems, had good practice related to medication administration. The counseling program proved to be effective in increasing the knowledge and practice of the study women.
